Knus Krigsmaskinen speaks out against Conradi’s attempt to depoliticize the suppression of legitimate protest

Yesterday we were informed that the municipality has officially applied to demolish our house. This is being done by Mayor Conradi bypassing the municipal council and thus acting deeply undemocratically in a politically charged issue like this.

We are not surprised by this effort to silence our legitimate protest. This procedure goes in the direction of how an oppressive regime would act, and stands as an example of the sad state of democracy in Norway. At the same time, this was to be expected as another step in the broader false democratic process and AI hallucinations, which the local population has already experienced, to push through Chemring’s new factory despite all local resistance.

In order to avoid a political discussion with the members of the coalition, she made it a purely administrative task. This means that none of the members of the municipality had the opportunity to vote against the demolition of what has become an important symbol for protecting Hurummarka. They are hiring a private contractor because then they don’t need an official reason to demolish. Conradi’s attempt to silence this protest and remove us without having to be held accountable indicates that she and her supporters lack a basic understanding of the important role protest has for a vibrant democracy.

We urge all residents of Hurum and Asker and those concerned about the forest and the fjord to ask themselves:

    • How can it be that the municipality is willing to invest so much tax money in demolishing this building, but refuses to restore the poisoned areas in Hurumlandet?
    • How can a municipal council, which claims to be sustainable, demolish a fully functional house that after our protest has succeeded will be reused by the public, school and university excursions and other gatherings?
    • What value does the argument of defending democracy with ever more explosives have, when this is how the municipality treats legitimate protest?

As another sign of the municipality’s inconsistency, they demanded from their former tenants protection of the culturally valuable painting by local painter Rolf Røskestad (1962), which they are now ready to destroy in silence. This is shown by a quote from the previous lease issued by the municipality: “The walls in the main house are painted by a local artist, directly on the wall, and are being looked after to the best of their ability. The same applies to the fireplace in the main house.”

After finally reaching an agreement with the Asker fire department and agreeing to find an inspection date for the coming week, we are informed of the municipality’s demolition plans. How is it that the municipality first claims to take care of our and others’ safety when it comes to fire safety, and now continues to want to demolish our house without an assessment or a valid reason? We have therefore made another plan to ensure that fire safety is taken care of. We are contacting reliable, independent people from the fire department and an independent electrician to achieve the necessary standards.

Given how our protest is being handled by the municipality, we urge all residents to be vigilant and outspoken in all upcoming steps to enable Chemring’s mega-factory for destruction, a process where even the State Administrator expresses serious concerns for the safety of residents if Tofte harbor becomes a militarized zone and part of an explosives transportation route.

We, the occupiers from Knus Krigsmaskinen, remain courageous and will continue our fight for Hurum. We want a world where future generations, instead of drowning in an increasingly fear-driven, chaotic, egocentric and warmongering world, can live in security, with values such as community, self-determination, care, true democracy and accountability at the center.

  • You Don’t Have To Do This Alone

We just published a proposal for how locals in Hurum can start organizing around the Environmental Impact Assessments by Norconsult titled “You Don’t Have To Do This Alone – Organizing Community Resistance in Hurummarka”. • What is Midsummer?

In many northern countries peoples celebrate Midsummer.

    🌾 HISTORICALLY 🌾
… this day marks the midpoint of the growing season, halfway between planting and harvest.

    ☀️ ASTRONOMICALLY ☀️
… speaking, summer begins on the solstice, which is always around the 20th of June. At this moment, the Sun reaches its highest and northernmost points in the sky, and Earth’s North Pole tilts directly toward the Sun. It’s the longest day of the year. The sun does not even disappear at night in some more Nordic regions of the world. In fact, the Sun’s declination path appears to stop before reversing direction. “Solstice” is a combination of the Latin words sol for “sun” and stitium for “standing.” In late December, the Sun appears to stand still again, when we experience the winter solstice—the shortest day.

    💐 TRADITION 💐
Celebrations for Midsummer typically begin on Midsummer Eve. Dancing, eating, bonfires, collecting flowers and way more! Which traditions are actually getting practised depends on the area and the people you are with.

👉 At our celebration we will have a diverse mix out of different practices and it also highly depends on who brings what knowledge. We are really existed to create our own tradition with you!

  • Greetings to the Banny forest occupation!

Greetings to the Banny forest occupation!

While we are still giggeling about the fact that the municipality requested the police to evict us citing AI-genereated praragraphs, another local government has dilegitimized itself by evoking the executive force on local resistance with questionable legal footing. This time it happened to a forest occupation close to Frankfurt, Germany called Banny against a gravel company taking away the local forest. There – evicting people – the cops had to stop mid-eviction and left the forest still occupied. The court had confirmed doubts about the legal construction, the municipality had created.
The pattern of government caring less about law or quality or foundations of life of the people we expect it everywhere.
So it is only a question of time and place when governing bodies will cast aside their virtue. With their decision to unquestionably follow governmental orders, the police facilitate this foreseeable problem.

We stand in solidarity with everyone who fights this!

  • Speech at Anti-Racist Demonstration in Oslo, 20.05.2026

Yesterday, we participated in the anti-racist demonstration in Oslo organized by Handala forening. Thanks for inviting us! Below you can find our speech:

    Hello, we are Knus Krigsmaskinen!

On April 2nd we squatted the abandoned military barrack in Avgrunnsdalen, Hurummarka to defend the forest from being turned into an explosives factory for Chemring Nobel.

Chemring, the Norwegian ministry of defense, and the Norwegian state are enforcing this plan by subjecting the local population to an audacious sham democratic process. The locals know this, and together with them, our resistance shines like a bright fire in a dark night.

Already today, Chemring produces explosives on the Hurum peninsula in their factory in Sætre. The explosives manufactured there are used in the american produced Hellfire-missiles, which are widely used in israel’s genocide on Palestinians. Chemring Nobel and Nammo also secured themselves a twelve year agreement with German Diehl Defence last year, who is itself is in close cooperation with the israeli weapons industry.

Needless to say, imperial wars, settler colonialism and genocide are inherently racist. The plunder and devastation of land and resources can only be justified through a white supremacist logic that decides who plunders and who is plundered. This logic is sustained through a deeply engrained nationalism. As a prime example of upholding this racism, Norway supplies the US, NATO and German military with essential components for their imperial endeavors under the nationalist rhethoric of self-defense.

Through this nationalism, Norway’s complicity in the genocide on Palestinians is directly linked to its own internal colonization of Sápmi.

For the land is being scarred and the waters poisoned to extract resources including wood, metals, and electricity, to host paying tourists, to process digital information in data centers, and to force Norwegian culture and a “modern” lifestyle as they call it, into dominance – and not least: to satisfy the material and energy demands for an ever increasing war machinery.

Racism in Norway also takes the shape of politicians who call reindeer herding a threat to “progress” and demand that reindeer districts have less power over their territories. It takes the shape of killed reindeer, harassment during military exercises, and a structural exclusion of the Sámi parliament from decision making power.

Pretenses of a progressive national identity exist only in nationalism’s paradigm of erasure. Last Sunday’s display of Norwegian national pride, which entails countless Norwegian flags placed also on traditional Sámi territories, AT THE SAME TIME as norway and norwegians continue to colonize Sámi lands and people, shamingly proves this point. So does calling Sápmi Norway or calling Riehpovuotna Repparfjord. These names should mean places, inlets and mountains – and kin. Norway continues to be a settler colonial state and many of the worst perpetrators sit on company boards or in parliaments. For example, the company Nussir ASA blasts a tunnel into the mountain Nussir to get at copper, gold, and silver, and dumps the tailings into the inlet Riehpovuotna, poisoning and filling it again – as they done before in the 1970s. The owner of Nussir ASA is the Canadian Blue Moon Metals inc., who also runs a mine on indigenous territories in the so-called US.  One of Blue Moon Metals main investors is Hartree Partners LP, with offices no fifteen hundred metres from here on Fjordaleen 16, only naming some targets. Of course, there are many more.

The EU critical raw materials act has spurred on a whole host of mining projects in Sápmi in the name of a green transition that does not in fact transition away from anything but instead only means more production and consumption, industry and land grabs. Their so-called progress is nothing but a tool on the belt of capitalist civilization and in the hands of the likes of Nussir ASA, LKAB, Talga AB, Anglo American Services.

We now lived in Avgrunnsdalen for almost two months and established an AFS, an actively defended zone, or aktivt forsvart sone in Norwegian. We will stay until the factory will no longer be built. Each day we spend in Avgrunnsdalen, our hearts are with those who’ve lost their lives, their loved ones, or their lands while facing the unimaginable horrors of imperial and colonial aggression.

We also stand in solidarity with the flotilla activists being intercepted by israeli forces earlier this week, and with the 47activists are going to court in Vestre Finnmark Tingrett in Hámmárfeasta on the 2nd of June for resisting against the Nussir mine in Riehpovuotna.

At this very moment, racism in Norway takes the shape of compliance with genocide against Palestinians, as well as the active colonization of Sápmi. Genocide and colonialism are at this very moment profited from and produced, among other places, in Hurumlandet, and it must be stopped there and now. Let’s stand side by side in the fight.

Freedom for every colony, solidarity means attack!

    Knus Krigsmaskinen, 19.-28.06.☀️

Celebrate midsummer and co-create a camp with us!

    🗓️ 19.-28. June

    📍 Rødbyveien 43, Hurummarka, norway

    🏕️ self organised camping

We want to celebrate midsummer in a place of active resistance against the war machine and environmental destruction. The area where the camp will take place is squatted since the beginning of April 2026. It is surrounded by forests, lakes, a house and mountains. This means that there will always be space for everybody 😉

Let’s co-create a diverse program of skillshares, workshops, music, DIY, art and actions.

Let’s build a community and different barrios together, let’s grow a culture of care.

💬 If you want to co-create the program, message us at knuskrigsmaskinen.camp@systemli.org

We love for you to inform us before the camp starts about your plans, so we can hold space for it to go as smooth as possible. If that doesn’t work for you, we can create space for anything you might bring spontaneously during the camp together.
